Lacina Traore hungry for Everton debut:
Giant frontman could make surprise Premier League bow at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez has praised Lacina Traore’s ‘incredible appetite’ to make an instant impact for Everton.
Martinez is hoping the 6ft 8in striker can fire Everton towards Champions League qualification and with Romelu Lukaku back in Belgium nursing an ankle injury, Traore could feature in the Blues starting eleven sooner than first expected.
‘Lacina is fully fit from a medical point of view’ said Martinez. ‘The last thing we want is for him to stretch to get the physicality of the Premier League and suffer. He’s got an incredible, hungry approach towards everything he does.
‘He is progressing really well, we need to assess whether it is wise or not to give him playing time over the next two or three weeks.
‘When you see him straight away it gives you a clear idea of what he can bring to the team. He is stronger than I thought and he’s got an incredible appetite for his debut at Everton.’
As Good As It Gets
‘That impresses me. After he watched the last home game against Aston Villa, you could see he was desperate to be fit and help the team.’
Martinez added: ‘His co-ordination for such a tall guy is quite rare. The combination play in the final third is as good as it gets and he’s got a good goal scoring touch.
‘Lacina has got the physical presence to be a target man in open play as well.’
Everton will head to North London without long term absentees Bryan Oviedo, Arouna Kone and Darren Gibson. However the Toffees squad will be boosted significantly with Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman and Gerard Deulofeu all deemed fit enough to travel.
