Hamstrung Traore: On-loan striker faces further spell on the sidelines
Lacina Traore is set for another spell on the sidelines. The giant striker was forced to sit out the Chelsea game suffering another hamstring strain in the warm-up.
Worringly for Everton boss Roberto Martinez, the 6 ft 8in target man, who arrived on Merseyside nursing an existent hamstring problem, has reportedly damaged the same area of his other leg.
Everton will not know the extent of the injury until Traore undergoes further tests, however it seems likely the giant Monaco striker will not be available for selection in the immediate future.
Thankfully for the Toffees, Romalu Lukaku has recovered from an ankle injury received in the Merseyside derby defeat, although whether Martinez will be prepared to thrust the Belgian into immediate action for Saturday’s visit of West Ham is debatable.
Playing down the loss of Traore, Martinez was adamant the forced change had no real affect on the outcome of the game. But with Everton looking increasingly impotent in front of goal, the loss of Traore will come as a damaging blow in the Blues’ hunt for Champions League football.
