Reports in Portugal claim Belgian international midfielder Steven Defour has been told to find a new club this summer
According to the Correio da Manhã Steven Defour has been made aware he will not figure in FC Porto’s plans for the 2014-15 season.
The 26 year-old the Belgian international midfielder is under contract at Porto until June 2016 and despite a staggering release clause of 50 million Euros, the Correio da Manhã claim Porto are willing to open negotiations below the 6 million Euros the Portuguese giants payed Standard Liege for the Belgian in June 2011.
Defour struggled to nail down a place in the Porto team in the first half of last season however the midfielder, who is currently preparing for the World Cup with the Belgian Squad, has figured much more regularly in the Porto midfield since a change of trainer at the turn of the year.
The Correio da Manhã are reporting serious interest in Defour from Lokomotiv Moscow with the Russian club hoping to tie up a deal before the start of the World Cup Finals.
Defour however, had reportedly turned down the chance to join Lokomotiv in the January transfer window and the Correio claim there is also interest from Everton – this despite reports in the English press the Toffees were unlikely to do any business before the conclusion of the Brazil finals.
