Everton Creatives: Chris Hocking
Chris is a 39 year old husband, father, Evertonian and artist.
In his younger days Chris was very much interested in art & design and at one stage had a real desire to become a comic book artist. He attained a BTEC National Diploma in Technical Illustration and has completed several courses in comic book illustration and graphics.
Whilst art is a passion for Chris, it has become a hobby and not his full time occupation, which is in management in a leisure facility.
In fact, Chris had spent many years away from art after ‘losing interest and motivation.’ Thankfully, he was encouraged to restart his passion a couple of years ago by his wife.
Now rediscovered, Chris describes his artwork has having become an ‘enjoyable, fun and worthwhile hobby.’ Chris now follows his passion in the midst of working and spending time with his wife and young son.

Obviously being an Evertonian, a lot of his work is based around The Blues. However, Chris also enjoys working on many subjects. Whilst the majority of his work is based mainly on drawing in ink & pencil, Chris has more recently branched out into painting in acrylic.
Chris does not have a website as such, but you can follow his work on his Facebook page: ‘Hocking Arts.’
Chris also takes advantage of Twitter to display his work. You can follow Chris @chrisjhocking22
Having trained as a technical illustrator, the focus of Chris’s work is on detail and he can be a bit of a perfectionist who ‘won’t carry on with a piece of work,’ unless he is, ‘completely satisfied with it.’
Chris has received lots of positive feedback from people both on his Facebook page and on Twitter and has completed several Everton based projects with the proceeds going to charity.
