Deal (almost) Done: Martinez confirms signing of Belgian ‘wonderkid’ David Henen almost done.
Roberto Martinez is confident Everton will beat off rivals Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of the 18-year old Belgian youth international.
According to the Toffees boss, negotiations with Anderlecht are ongoing.
Henen, who the Catalan confirmed has been training at Finch Farm, will join fellow new signing and highly rated prospect Brendan Galloway in the Everton u-21 squad.
Meanwhile, speaking after Leon Osman’s testimonial vs Porto at Goodison Park, Roberto Martinez also revealed he wants to add at least one more player to his squad before the Premier League season begins – a wide player – and says he has targets in mind.
Everton Set To Unveil Belgian ‘Wonderkid’ David Henen
Belgian football journalist Sven Claes has reported Everton are on the verge of announcing the arrival of Belgian talent David Henen in a deal worth 1.5 million euro.
The 18-year old Belgian youth international who spent last season on-loan at Monaco ‘B’ has, according to Claes, completed his medical at Finch Farm and will be handed the number 39 shirt due to the young forward being a big fan of Niclas Anelka.
Het Laatste Nieuws reports Everton have beaten off interest in Henen, who shares the same agent (Christophe Henrotay) as Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku, from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Porto.
If the transfer comes to fruition Henen would be the Toffees second capture of the transfer window following the signing of free agent Gareth Barry.
The young forward however, who reportedly made a positive impression on Everton scouts in the NextGen Series, would seemingly be a signing for the future as he is yet to make a first team appearance for either his parent club Anderlecht or during his loan spell at Monaco.
