Belgian Scout Andy De Smet Signs In At Goodison
Highly respected Belgian scout and match analyst Andy De Smet has joined the backroom staff at Goodison Park.
The 41-year old ‘top scout’ who is also a lecturer in scouting at the Belgian FA’s Trainers School will join his fellow countrymen Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas at Everton.
As well as scouting the top talent from both Belgium and the Netherlands, De Smet will also be employed by Martinez to analyze both Champions League games and, once the draw is made, Everton’s opponents in the 2014/15 Europa League.
Speaking this week to SportMagazine the Flemish born De Smet said:
“I’ve spent the last three days in Liverpool discussing my new role at Everton.”
“Initially, I will be bringing the talent in and around Belgian into focus for the club.
“In addition, I will be focusing on Champions League matches and also Everton’s opponents in the Europa League.”
De Smet will bring to Everton the knowledge he has built up from working in the Belgian game under respected coaches Dennis van Wijk, Enzo Scifo and Cedomir Janevski.
